Position Summary:
Cincinnati Ballet is seeking enthusiastic and compassionate candidates to join our Dance Education Department as CB Moves Educators. This position will primarily support the CB Moves adaptive dance programming, with a focus on Senior and Memory Care populations throughout the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky region.
The CB Moves Educator is responsible for delivering high-quality dance and movement instruction for older adults and individuals with differing abilities or specific needs in a variety of community partner settings. With a strong emphasis on creating physically and emotionally safe, accessible, and engaging environments, this role is integral to Cincinnati Ballet’s mission of providing inclusive, world-class dance education and community engagement opportunities.
The ideal candidate is experienced in working with adult learners, seniors, and/or individuals experiencing memory-related challenges, mobility limitations, sensory sensitivities, or other unique needs. Educators will work collaboratively with support staff, caregivers, medical professionals, and community partners to foster meaningful movement experiences that promote creativity, connection, wellness, and joy.
Interaction
The Dance Educator is a public-facing position with a high degree of interaction with participants, caregivers, families, faculty, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and community partner staff. This position works closely with the entire Academy + Education Department.

Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with a commitment to using inclusive, respectful, and accessible language when working with older adults and vulnerable populations.
Dependability/Punctuality
The Dance Educator must be highly dependable in fulfilling all assigned classes, workshops, meetings, and follow-up communication. Punctuality and preparedness are essential. Educators are expected to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to each class or workshop to prepare the space and materials.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality movement and dance instruction that supports participant engagement, wellness, creativity, and achievement.
- Implement CB Moves curriculum while incorporating individual teaching styles and responsive instructional practices.
- Create a welcoming, compassionate, and inspiring environment for all participants.
- Make appropriate accommodations to ensure participant needs are safely and effectively supported.
- Adapt movement instruction for participants with mobility limitations, sensory sensitivities, memory-related conditions, or other specific needs.
- Maintain a strong commitment to Cincinnati Ballet’s principles of Identity, Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IIDEA).
- Collaborate with caregivers, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and partner staff to ensure cohesive and supportive instruction.
- Develop and prepare lesson plans based on program curriculum and participant needs.
- Support participant demonstrations, informal sharing, or performances when applicable.
- Track attendance and communicate participant progress, concerns, or notable observations to the Community Partnerships and Programs Manager.
- Maintain safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environments with patience, creativity, and professionalism.
- Adhere to all Cincinnati Ballet curriculum guidelines, program policies, employee expectations, and partner site policies.
- Maintain timely and professional communication with supervisors and community partners.
- Regularly check and respond to email communications.
- Submit payroll hours accurately and on time.
- Attend required faculty meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions.
Key Professional Experience
- Experience teaching dance, movement, fitness, or arts programming for older adults, adaptive populations, or community-based programs preferred.
- Experience working with senior adults and/or individuals experiencing memory loss, dementia, Parkinson’s, or other cognitive or physical challenges strongly preferred.
- Strong classroom management and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction to varying participant abilities and support needs.
- Passion for inclusive arts education and community engagement.
- Reliable transportation required for travel to partner locations throughout the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region.
Expected Work Hours and Travel
- Must be able to work a highly flexible schedule, which will include regular travel to greater Cincinnati community partners throughout the tri-state.
