Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will support patients across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, skilled nursing facilities, and home health environments. This role involves assisting with therapy plans, promoting patient independence, and delivering high-quality care to diverse populations such as geriatrics and pediatrics. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic clinical setting with a focus on improving patient outcomes through comprehensive occupational therapy services.
Responsibilities
- Assist licensed Occupational Therapists in implementing individualized care plans tailored to patient needs.
- Support patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to enhance their independence and functional abilities.
- Provide therapy interventions for patients in acute care, inpatient, outpatient, and home health settings.
- Help with patient education on mobility, safety, and adaptive techniques.
- Document patient progress accurately and communicate effectively with the healthcare team.
- Support the setup and maintenance of medical imaging equipment when necessary for therapy assessments.
- Contribute to the development and adjustment of care plans based on patient progress and needs.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and confidentiality policies.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology relevant to occupational therapy.
- Experience assisting with ADLs across various populations including geriatrics and pediatrics.
- Familiarity with home health, acute care, inpatient, outpatient, clinic environments, and skilled nursing facilities.
- Ability to work effectively within interdisciplinary teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.
- Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and documentation.
- Knowledge of occupational health principles and safety protocols in clinical settings.
- Ability to adapt therapy techniques based on individual patient needs and treatment goals.
- Prior experience with care planning and implementing therapeutic activities tailored to diverse clinical scenarios is preferred.
