Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery to provide exceptional, evidence-based nursing care to mothers and newborns in a fast-paced acute care environment. The RN will be responsible for delivering safe, patient- and family-centered care throughout the labor, delivery, recovery, and immediate postpartum periods while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal clinical outcomes.
The ideal candidate is experienced in high-acuity Labor & Delivery settings, possesses strong critical thinking skills, and is committed to delivering compassionate, quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and ongoing reassessments throughout labor and delivery.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and update individualized nursing care plans.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, blood products, and other treatments according to physician orders.
- Interpret fetal heart monitoring and respond appropriately to fetal distress.
- Provide labor support, patient education, and emotional support to patients and families.
- Assist physicians and advanced practice providers during labor, vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and obstetric emergencies.
- Monitor and document patient responses to clinical interventions accurately in the EMR.
- Coordinate discharge planning and educate patients regarding postpartum care, newborn care, breastfeeding, medications, and follow-up instructions.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians, anesthesia, neonatal teams, lactation consultants, and other interdisciplinary staff.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to licensed and unlicensed personnel while maintaining accountability for patient outcomes.
- Serve as a mentor or preceptor for new nursing staff when appropriate.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety programs, and evidence-based practice projects.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection prevention protocols.
- Promote a safe, respectful, and patient-focused care environment.
Required Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care Registered Nurse experience
- Recent Labor & Delivery experience in an acute care hospital strongly preferred
- Experience caring for high-risk obstetric patients preferred
Education
- Nursing Diploma OR
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
Licensure & Certifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) Certification (preferred)
- Epic EMR experience required

- Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend

The successful candidate demonstrates strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, proficiency with Epic EMR, and a commitment to providing exceptional patient-centered care in a collaborative healthcare environment.
Pay: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour
