We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lead Chef to join our senior living community. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for preparing meals, planning menus, managing food orders, and overseeing kitchen operations to ensure residents receive nutritious, high-quality dining experiences.
The ideal candidate enjoys cooking, leading a team, and creating a welcoming dining environment while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook meals for residents, ensuring quality, consistency, and presentation standards are met
- Develop menus that meet nutritional requirements while incorporating resident preferences
- Order food and kitchen supplies while managing inventory and staying within budget
- Supervise and support cooks and dietary staff, providing training and direction as needed
- Ensure proper food storage, preparation, and handling procedures are followed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen environment
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal health and sanitation regulations
- Coordinate special meals and events as needed
- Monitor kitchen equipment and arrange maintenance or repairs when necessary
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Chef, Lead Cook, Kitchen Manager, or similar culinary leadership role
- Experience in senior living, healthcare, hospitality, or institutional food service preferred
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Experience with menu planning, food ordering, and inventory management
- Ability to manage food costs and work within established budgets
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as needed
