Kangaroo Care is seeking an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to support a wonderful 3-year-old child in NE Portland. Approximately 11-20 hours per week.
She loves being read to, enjoys music, and enjoys spending time with family/friends. She is non verbal, and still working on sitting on her own, can't crawl or stand yet. She is needing help with becoming more independent in her mobility, feeding and hydration through her G-Tube as well as working on being able to eat foods orally, diaper changes, learning how to communicate in alternative ways such as ASL and an AAC device, exploring playing/new things and learning to communicate her needs without becoming frustrated. DSP should be patient, supportive while working on eating/pt goals, likes to go outside, motivated, someone who is loving/playful, and likes to read. DSP does not need to be able to drive. DSP should either have experience or be comfortable with learning G-Tube feedings. Also knowing ASL is helpful but not required. There are cats in the home and no smoking.
Schedule:
- Mondays: 7:15 AM-6:00 PM
- Every other Saturday: 7:30 AM-4:30 PM
- Approximately 11-20 hours per week
Candidate Must have-
- Valid Drivers License and Insurance Coverage
- Communication skills requiring patience and understanding
- Ability to provide occasional assistance with daily tasks

As a Kangaroo Caregiver, you will provide in home assistance with activities of daily living (ADL’s) to support and maximize our client’s quality of life. Kangaroo Care delivers the training and resources to give our caregivers top-quality skills in a meaningful work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help plan and assist in preparing some meals, including serving, if necessary
- Assist with dressing, grooming
- Assist in daily living activities and needs
- Participate in life enriching activities
- A caregiver may assist with medication reminders
- Complete required shift notes and scheduling via our caregiver app
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Record and report changes in client’s physical condition, behavior, or appearance
Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour
