Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Commercial Construction Carpenter to join our construction team. This role is responsible for constructing, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures on commercial job sites in accordance with project plans, safety standards, and building codes. The ideal candidate has strong technical carpentry skills, experience on commercial projects, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and specifications
- Measure, cut, and assemble wood, metal studs, drywall, and other materials
- Construct and install framing, doors, windows, ceilings, cabinets, trim, and architectural features
- Perform concrete formwork, blocking, backing, and layout work
- Install commercial fixtures and hardware per project requirements
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and carpentry equipment safely and efficiently
- Ensure work complies with local building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards
- Coordinate with supervisors, subcontractors, and other trades on-site
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Identify and report material shortages, defects, or safety concerns
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience as a carpenter on commercial construction projects
- Strong knowledge of carpentry methods, materials, and tools
- Ability to accurately read blueprints and construction documents
- Familiarity with commercial building codes and OSHA safety standards
- Proficient with hand and power tools (saws, drills, nail guns, levels, etc.)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an apprenticeship program is a plus
- 3+ years of commercial carpentry experience preferred
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and work at heights
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions and active job sites
