About the Role:
The IT Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of technology systems within the county government sector. This position is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting hardware and software systems, ensuring that all technology resources are functioning optimally. The IT Technician will also be involved in the implementation of new technologies and upgrades, providing support to staff and ensuring that their technical needs are met. Additionally, this role requires effective communication skills to assist in training staff on new systems and software. Ultimately, the IT Technician contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of public services through reliable technology support.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Proven experience in technical support.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with current cybersecurity trends and tools.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software systems. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to staff and users. Manage user accounts and permissions through Active Directory. Conduct regular system audits and updates to ensure security and efficiency. Assist in the development and implementation of IT projects and initiatives.
Skills:
Understanding how computer systems work, including components, operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux), and common software applications. Familiarity with basic security concepts, such as recognizing phishing attempts, understanding malware, and implementing basic security practices. Effectively communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical users through various channels (written, verbal, email). Additionally, strong organizational skills are necessary for managing multiple projects and ensuring timely completion of IT initiatives. Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality required.
