Prevention Educator
Part-Time | School-Year Position
Position Purpose
Operation Aware Prevention Educators lead engaging, discussion-based lessons in local schools that help students build self-awareness, healthy coping skills, decision-making confidence, and resilience.
This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with youth and are passionate about making a positive impact. Whether your background is in education, counseling, coaching, youth leadership, public speaking, communications, or another field, we're looking for engaging communicators who can connect with students.

Responsibilities
- Facilitate Operation Aware lessons in elementary, middle, and high school classrooms.
- Present curriculum in an engaging, age-appropriate, and interactive manner.
- Foster positive relationships with students, teachers, administrators, and school staff.
- Maintain professionalism and effective classroom management.
- Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
- Communicate regularly through email and Microsoft Teams.
- Submit schedules, hours, mileage, and required documentation accurately and on time.
- Maintain, organize, and care for curriculum materials and supplies.
- Represent Operation Aware professionally in partner schools and the community.
QualificationsRequired
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups.
- Dependable, organized, flexible, and professional.
- Ability to build positive relationships with youth and school staff.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
Preferred
- Experience working with youth through education, coaching, mentoring, counseling, childcare, camps, youth ministry, nonprofit programs, or similar settings.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience working with youth is preferred but not required.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, especially those fluent in Spanish or Burmese.

Schedule & Pay
- Part-time position following the school-year calendar.
- Educators work when partner schools are in session and are generally off during school breaks and throughout the summer.
- Typically 3 to 4 weekdays per week during daytime school hours.
- Position begins around August 15 and continues through May.
- Starting pay: $120 per day, with opportunities for increased compensation based on experience, performance, and tenure.
- Paid training provided before the school year begins.
- Mileage reimbursement provided for eligible travel.
