Responsibilities
- Assist with animal restraint, handling, and behavior management to ensure safety during examinations and procedures
- Support veterinary technicians with tasks such as IV insertion, medication administration, catheterization, and aseptic techniques
- Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, kennels, surgical suites, and equipment through thorough cleaning and sanitation practices
- Record detailed medical information, treatment notes, and laboratory results accurately in patient records
- Prepare animals for surgery or diagnostic procedures by performing grooming, positioning, and monitoring vital signs
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding pet care instructions, medication schedules, and follow-up needs
- Support laboratory work including sample collection, processing, and basic testing to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning
Experience
- Prior kennel experience or animal handling background preferred; experience working with dogs, cats, or equine animals is highly valued
- Veterinary technician or veterinary clinic experience demonstrating familiarity with medical terminology and clinical protocols
- Hands-on experience with laboratory procedures, medication administration, and aseptic techniques in a veterinary setting
- Knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, behavior, and welfare principles to ensure compassionate care
- Experience with front desk duties such as client communication, appointment scheduling, and record keeping is a plus
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and safety standards
