BILINGUAL COLOR SPECIALIST (ENGLISH/SPANISH) — PART-TIME
He & She Studio is hiring one licensed Color Specialist for our Torrance salon. We are looking for a dependable color professional who can communicate confidently with clients in both English and Spanish, produce consistent color results, protect hair integrity, and follow organized salon systems.
This is an in-person employee position. The specialist will focus on color services only; haircuts are not assigned to this role unless the salon later approves them in writing.
SCHEDULE
- Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
- Approximately 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
- In person at 1516 Cabrillo Ave, Torrance, CA 90501
- Priority interviews are planned for Thursday, August 6, 2026
COMPENSATION
- Guaranteed base hourly pay: $17.00 per hour
- 25% commission on eligible services personally completed, under the salon’s written commission plan
- Estimated total compensation shown on Indeed: $17.00–$39.00 per hour before tips. The $17.00 base is guaranteed for all hours worked; earnings above the base depend on service revenue and are not guaranteed
- Employee keeps tips received from their clients
- All required work, training, meetings, cleaning, and any skills evaluation are paid/on the clock
COLOR SERVICES FOR THIS POSITION
- Root touch-ups and gray coverage
- General hair color applications
- Color consultations, strand tests, and formula planning
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform detailed consultations in English or Spanish and explain pricing, timing, maintenance, and realistic results before beginning
- Evaluate hair history and condition, conduct strand or allergy testing when appropriate, and protect the integrity of the client’s hair
- Formulate, apply, process, tone, rinse, and finish color services safely and consistently
- Document every client’s formula, notes, service price, start/end times, deposit, and payment in the salon system
- Follow sanitation, disinfection, chemical handling, patch-test, and manufacturer instructions
- Keep the color area, tools, bowls, brushes, back bar, and station clean and organized
- Complete assigned opening, closing, laundry, restocking, and client-support duties while clocked in
- Communicate delays, corrections, complaints, supply needs, or mistakes immediately and professionally
- Rebook clients, request reviews, and support before-and-after photos or simple salon content with client consent
- Help the salon improve client follow-up and maintain clean booking and CRM records
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional bilingual communication in English and Spanish is required
- Active California cosmetology license that permits chemical hair services
- Hands-on experience independently performing the color services listed above
- Current color portfolio, including at least three clear before-and-after transformations
- Strong consultation, formulation, timing, sanitation, and client-service skills
- Reliable attendance and availability Thursday, Friday, and Saturday
- Willingness to use Wix or another booking/CRM system and accurately record formulas and service details
- Coachable, organized, honest, and comfortable working as part of a small salon team
