Responsibilities
- Accurately organize, file, and retrieve patient medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems and paper files as needed
- Ensure all medical records are complete, up-to-date, and compliant with HIPAA regulations and medical coding guidelines
- Cross cover our front office
- Review and update medical documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) systems to support billing, coding, and revenue cycle management
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify ambiguous or incomplete medical records for accurate coding and billing purposes
- Assist in the processing of health insurance claims by verifying patient information, insurance details, and ensuring proper claim submission
Skills
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems used for electronic health record management.
- Familiarity with health insurance claim processing, third-party billing procedures, and revenue cycle management strategies
- Experience with medical collection processes and insurance follow-up procedures
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in maintaining accurate medical records
- Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and apply appropriate coding standards for inpatient services
- Knowledge of medical office procedures including data entry, record keeping, and confidentiality protocols
