Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and energetic Senior Power Systems Technician to lead and execute complex electrical and power system maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting across diverse utility and industrial environments. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to work on medium and high-voltage systems, renewable energy sites, and utility infrastructure, ensuring the safe and reliable operation of electrical networks. The ideal candidate will have experience leading teams on job sites and providing hands on instruction to technicians.
Duties
- Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of medium voltage transformers and related renewable energy storage systems in accordance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction plans to accurately execute projects..
- Use testing instruments like ohmmeters to measure resistance and continuity in circuits; perform high-voltage testing procedures safely.
- Maintain detailed records of work performed, inspections conducted, and safety checks completed to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Support transformer commissioning, energization, and decommissioning activities.
- Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Assist with maintenance and service activities on utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Follow all safety procedures, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) requirements.
Skills
- Experience working with medium voltage electrical equipment, transformers, switchgear, substations, or power systems.
- Strong knowledge of regulations, safety procedures, and field service best practices for utility infrastructure.
- Experience leading small teams on job sites and acting as the safety lead for projects.
- Experience and ability to work on ladders and at low to medium heights
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with utility-scale renewable energy or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Experience supporting Sungrow, CATL, Powin, Fluence, Tesla, or similar energy infrastructure.
- OSHA 10/30, NFPA 70E, NETA, NICET, or related certifications.
