Provides support to Bone and Joint Institute of Tennessee by answering patient calls, setting patient appointments, maintaining records, collecting patient payments and providing high quality customer service.

High School graduate or equivalent.

At least one-year medical office experience and ability to communicate well

Competent in the use of computers, printers, facsimile machines, copy machines, business phones, document scanners and other office equipment and supplies.

Must be able to sit, stand, communicate in English, both verbally and in written form, squat, reach overhead, and operate a computer/keyboard and heard instruction as appropriate.

Schedules appointments appropriately and follows scheduling instructions in EMR in order to maintain current patient information and updates demographics when needed.

Provide patients with necessary paperwork and HIPAA information to maintain compliance and inform patient's when policy changes have occurred.

Consistently inputs patient's insurance information into EMR upon scheduling and checks for eligibility and that the insurance is in-network with BJIT.

Provides simple medical advice under the direction of the physician or clinical staff.

Assists in new hire onboarding and training when requested by the manager/director.

Ensures patients are informed accurately of changes with provider's schedules and reschedules patients as needed.

Has the ability to work independently and maintain a strong attention to detail while making limited scheduling errors in EMR system.

Is able to perform tasks with limited questions or guidance from co-workers or manager.

Accurately collect patient payments over the phone when needed.

Maintains open line of communication with all staff members; interacts with staff/patients in a professional and constructive manner regarding directions, scheduling, messages, workflow changes and necessary corrections.

Reports concerns requiring attention to manager or director. Employee is a problems solver that brings possible solutions when presenting concerns or problems.

Participates in departmental meetings/huddles/etc. and recommends improvement opportunities. Performs other duties as assigned by manager and independently seeks out job duties during down time.
