Man Alive, Inc. is a long-standing nonprofit Opioid Treatment Program in Baltimore, committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals with opioid use disorder and co-occurring behavioral health needs.
We are seeking a Nurse Practitioner with supervisory experience to join our team on a part-time basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a self-starter who is interested in addiction medicine and wants to work under the guidance of an expert Medical Director with more than two decades of experience in the addiction treatment field.
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner will directly supervise nursing staff in the medical department, overseeing daily medication operations, under the final authority of the Medical Director. The Nurse Practitioner will provide direct medical services within the Opioid Treatment Program, including dose evaluations, annual physical examinations, medication-related assessments, and clinical follow-up for clients receiving treatment for opioid use disorder.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff and daily operations of medication dispensing unit in accordance with Medical Director’s protocols and applicable regulations.
- Conduct dose evaluations and medication-related clinical assessments for OTP clients.
- Complete annual physical examinations, including EKGs for QTc monitoring, and related documentation and support a system that ensures compliance with this requirement.
- Assess client stability, withdrawal symptoms, cravings, substance use patterns, medication response, and overall clinical presentation.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director regarding dosing recommendations, medication concerns, client risk factors, and clinical decision-making.
- Phlebotomy tasks, including admission bloodwork, reviewing results, making appropriate linkages to care, and reporting externally as indicated.
- PDMP reviews on all clients quarterly.
- Work closely with nursing, counseling, and care coordination staff as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Document all services accurately and timely in accordance with program standards, regulatory requirements, and payer expectations.
- Support individualized, trauma-informed, and harm-reduction-oriented care.
- Identify and communicate medical, psychiatric, or safety concerns requiring follow-up.
- Participate in clinical consultation and team communication as needed.
- Maintain compliance with applicable OTP regulations, confidentiality requirements, and organizational policies.
Qualifications
- Licensed Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland.
- Current Maryland CDS and DEA registration, or ability to obtain if required for assigned duties.
- Experience in addiction medicine, behavioral health, psychiatry, primary care, internal medicine, or community health, with supervisory experience.
- Strong clinical judgment and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with the Medical Director and treatment team.
- Comfortable working with individuals with complex medical, behavioral health, and social needs.
- Commitment to compassionate, respectful, nonjudgmental care.
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in an Opioid Treatment Program or medication-assisted treatment setting.
- Prior experience with Methasoft (electronic medical record software).
Schedule
This is a part-time hourly position.
Hours: Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
Compensation
$75.00 – $85.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
This position is eligible for paid sick leave in accordance with organizational policy and applicable law.
