Residential New Construction & Renovation HVAC Technician

Position Overview
Tire of service calls? Two Cool Guys Heating & AC is seeking a skilled Residential HVAC Technician to join our growing team. This position focuses on new construction homes, residential additions, and full-home renovation projects throughout Long Island.
The ideal candidate will have experience installing complete HVAC systems, including ductwork, furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, condensers, ventilation systems, and controls. Candidates should be comfortable working from plans, coordinating with other trades, and maintaining a high standard of workmanship while meeting project deadlines.
ResponsibilitiesNew Construction HVAC Installation
- Install complete HVAC systems in new residential construction projects.
- Install ductwork, supply and return air systems.
- Install gas furnaces, air handlers, heat pumps, condensers, and evaporator coils.
- Install ventilation systems, bath fans, range hoods, and fresh air systems.
- Perform equipment startup and commissioning.
- Verify airflow and system performance.
Residential Renovation Projects
- Remove and replace existing HVAC equipment.
- Modify and retrofit duct systems for additions and remodels.
- Install zoning systems and ductless mini-split systems.
- Upgrade controls and thermostats.
- Coordinate installations with framing, electrical, plumbing, and finish trades.
Service & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose installation-related issues.
- Perform system testing and balancing.
- Troubleshoot airflow, refrigerant, electrical, and control system problems.
- Complete warranty and punch-list work.
Project Coordination
- Read and interpret blueprints, HVAC plans, and specifications.
- Coordinate with project managers, builders, and inspectors.
- Ensure projects meet local building codes and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate job documentation and material tracking.
Safety & Quality Control
- Follow all OSHA and company safety procedures.
- Maintain clean and organized job sites.
- Protect customer property and maintain a professional appearance.
- Ensure all work meets company quality standards.
QualificationsRequired
- Minimum 3 years of residential HVAC installation experience.
- Experience with new construction and renovation projects.
- Ability to read HVAC blueprints and mechanical plans.
- Strong understanding of residential heating and cooling systems.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to lift 75+ pounds and work in physically demanding environments.
Preferred
- EPA Universal Certification.
- 5+ years of residential HVAC experience.
- Experience installing:
- Central air conditioning systems

- Experience leading helpers or installation crews.
