Duties
- Safely operate Class B commercial trucks, including refrigerated trailers and flatbeds, adhering to all DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) standards.
- Drive local delivery routes with a focus on touch freight, ensuring accurate loading and unloading of cargo such as freight, hazardous materials (hazmat), or specialty items like tanker or roll-off trucks.
- Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes for timely deliveries within designated areas.
- Load and unload cargo manually or with forklift assistance while maintaining proper handling procedures for logistics cargo handling.
- Ensure compliance with hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous substances.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to verify vehicle safety and readiness before each shift.
- Maintain detailed logs of deliveries, mileage, fuel usage, and vehicle maintenance in accordance with DOT regulations.
Requirements
- Valid CDL Class B license with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience in commercial truck driving, delivery driving, or related roles involving route driving and manual handling.
- Knowledge of refrigerated trailer operation and familiarity with logistics cargo handling procedures.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks confidently and safely.
- Experience with GPS navigation systems and route planning for efficient local deliveries.
- Understanding of FMCSA regulations, DOT rules, hazardous materials regulations, and safety protocols related to truck loading/unloading and dangerous goods transportation.
- Physical ability to manually load/unload freight using equipment such as forklifts or roll-off trucks when necessary.
- Strong commitment to safety standards and excellent driving skills aligned with DOT compliance requirements.
