Job Description
Position Title: English Learner (EL) Teacher
Qualifications: Valid Alabama Professional Educator Certificate with endorsement in English as a Second Language/English for Speakers of
Others Languages
Reports To: Principal
Supervises: Students
Job Goal: To serve as a liaison between school, home, and community to ensure that each student has an opportunity to achieve high
academic standards.
Length of Contract: 187 Days
Performance Responsibilities:
Has a thorough understanding of local, state, and federal procedures, guidelines, and law for English Learners.
Maintain confidential and sensitive information in a professional manner, especially when serving as liaison between the EL, the students’s home, school, and community agencies in an effort to adequately meet the needs of ELs and their families.
Works closely with the Associate Superintendent to implement program objectives, organize and maintain documentation, and to assist in collecting data to complete reports to meet local, state, and federal guidelines.
Evaluation: Evaluation is conducted by the Principal as prescribed by Board Policy.
Salary: According to approved salary schedule.
