We are a growing Texas law firm focused on helping consumers address debt-related challenges through bankruptcy, debt defense, and litigation. We represent individuals and small businesses in bankruptcy matters, debt collection lawsuits, breach of contract disputes, and other cases involving collection efforts in courts across Texas.
We are seeking an associate attorney interested in representing consumers who are being sued by creditors, debt buyers, lenders, and collection firms. The ideal candidate will have experience handling debt collection, breach of contract, or creditor-side litigation and is interested in applying that experience to help consumers protect their rights.
Responsibilities include:
Representing clients in debt collection lawsuits, breach of contract claims, and related civil litigation matters;
Drafting answers, motions, discovery, settlement communications, and court filings;
Appearing at hearings, trials, mediations, and conferences in courts throughout Texas;
Assisting with bankruptcy-related matters and evaluating how bankruptcy may affect pending litigation;
Communicating with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and firm staff in a professional and timely manner;
Helping develop strategies to resolve claims through litigation, settlement, bankruptcy, or other debt-relief options.
Qualifications:
Licensed to practice law in Texas;
Experience in debt collection, creditor litigation, breach of contract, consumer litigation, bankruptcy, or civil litigation preferred;
Prior experience representing creditors, debt buyers, or collection firms is a strong plus;
Comfortable appearing in court and handling contested matters;
Strong writing, research, and case-management skills;
Tech-savvy and comfortable using legal technology, implementing new procedures, case-management systems, and electronic filing platforms;
Willingness to travel occasionally for hearings and court appearances across Texas;
Spanish language ability is a plus, but not required.
