Schedule: Full-Time | Typically 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM with some scheduling flexibility
Setting: Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) & Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)
Grand Rising Behavioral Health is seeking a compassionate and skilled Primary Therapist to join our growing mental health and substance use treatment team. This clinician will provide therapeutic services within our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) and Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) serving adults experiencing mental health and co-occurring substance use disorders.
The Primary Therapist plays a key role in delivering evidence-based behavioral health treatment, facilitating group therapy, conducting assessments, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support client stabilization and recovery.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, diagnostic evaluations, and risk assessments for clients entering PHP or IOP level of care
- Develop and maintain individualized treatment plans and update clinical goals based on client progress
- Facilitate therapeutic group sessions including CBT, DBT, relapse prevention, psychoeducation, and process groups
- Provide individual therapy sessions to support treatment goals and address clinical needs
- Conduct family sessions and family education when clinically appropriate
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning for clients experiencing acute mental health or substance use concerns
- Collaborate with psychiatric providers, nurses, and the multidisciplinary treatment team
- Participate in treatment team meetings and case consultations
- Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation including assessments, progress notes, treatment plans, and discharge summaries
- Support discharge planning and aftercare coordination with outpatient providers and community resources
- Provide services through in-person and telehealth platforms when appropriate
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, or related behavioral health field
- Licensed or license-eligible in Massachusetts (LICSW, LMHC, LMFT preferred)
- Pre-licensed clinicians working toward independent licensure are encouraged to apply
- Experience working with mental health and/or substance use disorders
- Experience facilitating group therapy in a behavioral health setting preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices such as CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care, and relapse prevention
- Ability to manage crisis situations and high-acuity clinical needs
- Strong clinical documentation skills and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR)
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary treatment team
