MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Masters degree from an accredited institution in Special Education, Educational Diagnostics, School Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a closely related field.

Completion of approved training in testing assessment or measurement.

Valid Florida certificate in Exceptional Student Education or School Psychologist.

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Valid Florida driver license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Doctorate degree from an accredited institution with a specialization in School Psychology.

Three years of experience teaching exceptional student education.

Experience in special education evaluation, assessment, or related instructional support.

State certification or licensure as a School Psychologist or eligibility for certification or licensure.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, including IDEA, Section 504, and FERPA.

Knowledge of ESE practices, including assessment, eligibility determination, and evidence-based instructional and behavioral intervention strategies.

Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly present assessment results and recommendations.

Ability to analyze complex data and translate findings into actionable, evidence-based recommendations.

Ability to work collaborate effectively and professionally within a diverse work environment and contribute to a multidisciplinary team.

Ability to consult with and guide school staff and families in understanding evaluation results and implementing appropriate interventions.

Ability to manage multiple priorities, organize work, and meet timelines in a fast-paced environment with diverse demands.

Ability to take initiative in planning, coordinating, and completing assignments with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Conduct comprehensive developmental, academic, and functional assessments of students referred for Exceptional Student Education (ESE) services using a variety of standardized and diagnostic tools.

Administer and interpret standardized assessments to evaluate academic achievement, cognitive processing, and functional performance, identifying student strengths and areas of need.

Conduct formal classroom observations and gather relevant background information to assess the impact of a students disability on educational performance and access to the general curriculum.

Analyze and synthesize data from multiple sources, including standardized assessments, progress monitoring, classroom performance, state assessments, and available medical or developmental information to develop a comprehensive student profile.

Provide consultation to teachers, administrators, and families to support understanding of assessment results and the implementation of appropriate instructional and behavioral strategies.

Support Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) processes by assisting with the design and evaluation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions prior to and during ESE consideration.

Develop and recommend evidence-based instructional and intervention strategies aligned to student needs, including specialized methodologies and support.

Ensure timely completion of evaluations, eligibility determinations, and documentation in compliance with IDEA, Section 504, Florida regulations, and District policies.
