Job Summary
CIRC is seeking compassionate, energetic instructors to lead fitness classes in Senior Affordable Housing communities! Our senior community in Seattle, WA is looking for a Chair Yoga instructor for one, 60-minute session per week. This is a contract-based position ideal for experienced, reliable fitness professionals who are passionate about helping older adults stay active, healthy, and independent!
Position Duration
6-month contract with possibility of renewal.
Basic Functions
- Teach a 1-hour chair-based yoga class once per week.
- Monitor class participants to ensure all participants are getting the maximum benefit from the class and to modify exercises as needed.
- Ensure class space is set up and reset before and after classes (including, but not limited to, moving tables and chairs and/or other furniture as needed).
- Implement correct paperwork protocols in accordance with site/funder’s requirements. Record class attendance and ensure all participants complete liability paperwork before class begins. Assist with distributing participant surveys twice per year.
- Maintain close communication with Wellness Program Manager to ensure regular time and location of class, and adequate signage, if required.
Training & Experience Requirements
- Completion of 200-hour yoga teaching certification, AND
- Current Adult CPR, AND
- Minimum of one-year related experience working with older adults.
- Fitness instructor liability insurance required (additional instructor benefit provided to assist with costs)
Knowledge and Skills
- Able to read, write and speak clearly in the English language.
- Able to communicate and motivate effectively.
- A caring personality interested in the health and well-being of seniors.
- Ability to offer basic modifications to movements to accommodate a variety of mobility levels.
Physical Requirements
- Sufficient health and fitness to teach a one-hour fitness class once per week.
- Able to lift, push, and/or pull class related furniture and equipment with a minimum weight of 25 lbs.
Compensation & Benefits:
- $50 per class (classes held once per week)
- $200 annual instructor benefit towards costs associated with training and insurance requirements.
