Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to empower individuals with diverse needs to live fulfilling, independent lives. Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s personal assistance devices.
- Monitor and record vital signs, observe patient conditions, and report any changes to healthcare professionals promptly.
- Prepare nutritious meals and snacks in accordance with dietary plans, ensuring proper food handling and cleanliness standards.
- Administer medications following prescribed schedules while adhering to HIPAA regulations and safety protocols.
- Support residents during recreational activities, social outings, and community events to foster engagement and independence.
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing routine cleaning tasks and adhering to infection control procedures.
- Follow individualized care plans designed by healthcare teams, ensuring each resident’s unique needs are met with patience and respect.
Skills
- Proven experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home & community care environments.
- Knowledge of patient care techniques including assisting with ADLs, medication administration, and patient monitoring.
- Certifications such as CPR, First Aid, HIPAA compliance training, and knowledge of dementia or Alzheimer’s care are highly desirable. (Will train for this as well.)
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident lifts.
- Strong observational skills for patient safety, dementia care, autism support, or hospice care scenarios.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, residents, families, and healthcare providers.
- Demonstrated patience and compassion when working with individuals with developmental disabilities or memory impairments.
