Position Summary
The Executive Director (ED) is a visionary and strategic leader responsible for the overall success and sustainability of EMFP. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED leads organizational strategy, operations, fundraising, and community engagement.
This role ensures the pantry not only meets immediate food needs but also advances a client-centered approach that prioritizes dignity, accessibility, and measurable impact.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Board Partnership
- Partner with the Board of Directors to support strong governance and strategic planning
- Provide data, insights, and recommendations to guide decision-making
- Lead implementation of the strategic plan and report on progress
Operations & Program Oversight
- Oversee the procurement, logistics, and distribution of food
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards and best practices
- Maintain a client-centered approach that reduces barriers to access
Fundraising & Development
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to diversify revenue streams through grants, donor cultivation, and community partnerships
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors to build relationships with major donors and stakeholders
- Plan and execute annual fundraising events
- Manage required reporting for funders and donors, including a donor database
Financial Stewardship
- Collaborate with financial services provider to manage the annual budget and financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit finance regulations
- Identify opportunities for growth, sustainability, and efficiency
Team Leadership & Volunteer Management
- Lead, coach, and develop staff, contractors, and volunteers
- Foster a culture of collaboration, empathy, and accountability
- Oversee volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling and recognition programs
- Modeling procedures and core values for volunteers and team members on site (to include food rescue, receiving and distribution)
Community Engagement & Advocacy
- Serve as a public face of EMFP, alongside the Board of Directors
- Build partnerships with local businesses, farmers, government agencies, and nonprofits
- Share impact data and outcomes with stakeholders
Administration & Compliance
- Oversee administrative systems including financial processes, donor tracking, and communications
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit regulations, insurance, and risk management practices
- Oversee permits, required business registration, and other local and state requirements
- Maintain regular and responsive communication via website, phone calls, social media and other inquiries
- Report and track data streams including food valuation, client visits, supplies and inventory
Facilities & Property Management
- Oversee facility maintenance and vendor relationships
- Oversee compliance with safety requirements and regulations
QualificationsEducation & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Social Work, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 5+ years of leadership experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector
- Proven success in fundraising and managing budgets of $500K+
- Familiarity with food safety standards and supply chain operations
- Experience with donor management systems, inventory tracking, and reporting tools

- Communication: Strong public speaking and persuasive writing skills

- Operational Expertise: Knowledge of nonprofit systems, budgeting, and program management
- Empathy & Cultural Competency: Deep commitment to serving individuals experiencing food insecurity with dignity and respect

Pay: $70,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
