This position is for current Blue Ridge CTC students only. Students must be eligible for Federal Work Study to participate in the student employment/community service program.
This is a community service program assistant position located at the Boys & Girls Club.
Positions are available at the Martinsburg location
This position will assist school aged children in the development of academic skills and supervise recreational activities.
The program assistant will:
Check members in and out, answer phones, check emails
Engage in activities with selected students either one on one or with small groups
Collaborate with the school supervisor and staff members to assess the students needs and how best to address them
Tutor children that are working below their expected academic grade level
Most importantly be a friend and a role model
Other duties as assigned
High School/GED
Must complete and pass a background check
Must be 18 years of age
Must have valid state issued ID
The Boys & Girls Club is required to do a federal, state, and local background check along with a DHHR protective services, and sex offender check for any students placed with their agency. These will be completed when the placement interview is held.
Student should have experience working with children and have some knowledge of youth development. Student should be comfortable with and able to motivate and manage behavior problems.
