The Seal Table Technician supports nuclear power plant refueling and maintenance outages by performing precision assembly, disassembly, inspection, cleaning, and testing of mechanical seals and associated components.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, disassemble, inspect, clean, and refurbish mechanical seals and seal components.
- Perform seal table operations in accordance with nuclear procedures, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
- Measure critical dimensions using precision measuring instruments, including micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and torque equipment.
- Inspect components for wear, corrosion, damage, and dimensional tolerances.
- Complete required quality assurance documentation, work packages, and inspection records.
- Maintain Foreign Material Exclusion (FME) controls and contamination prevention practices.
- Work in radiologically controlled areas while following ALARA principles and radiation protection requirements.
- Perform equipment setup, maintenance, and housekeeping of the seal table work area.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, quality control personnel, and outage team members.
- Follow all nuclear safety, industrial safety, and environmental procedures.
- Support extended work schedules, including overtime, nights, weekends, and travel during outage seasons.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, drawings, and specifications.
- Experience using precision measuring tools and mechanical hand tools.
- Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access.
- Ability to pass background checks, fitness-for-duty testing, and radiological training.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in confined spaces or extended standing positions.
