Income Tax Preparer Wanted

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and other tax returns using advanced tax preparation software, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Research tax issues and provide recommendations to leadership
- Gather and analyze financial documents such as W-2s, 1099s, balance sheets, income statements, and other supporting records
- Review client documentation for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and propose corrections
- Prepare workpapers and schedules to support the review process
- Maintain accurate client records and documentation in accounting software, and ensure compliance with firm policies
- Monitor filing deadlines and ensure timely submission of returns
- Respond to client inquiries in a professional and timely manner
- Collaborate across tax, audit, and accounting teams to support client needs
- Support client acquisition efforts through marketing initiatives and excellent customer service
Qualifications & Core Competencies:
- Three years experience in tax preparation, public accounting, or related fields, with a focus on individual and corporate taxes
- Strong knowledge of tax law, tax reporting requirements, and compliance standards
- Proficiency in tax preparation software (Lacerte, Drake Tax, or similar) and accounting software (QuickBooks)
- Solid knowledge of bookkeeping practices and technical accounting principles
- Analytical mindset with high accuracy in math and data entry (10-key typing proficiency)
- Effective, trust-building client communication and relationship management skills
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple deadlines during peak tax season
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate across functions
- Maintains strict confidentiality of sensitive information
- Basic knowledge of financial sales/marketing strategies and partnership tax expertise a plus
