We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Heavy Tow Operator to join our team and deliver exceptional vehicle recovery and towing services. In this vital role, you will operate specialized tow trucks to assist stranded or damaged vehicles, ensuring safe and efficient transport. Responsibilities
- Operate heavy-duty tow trucks, including flatbed and specialized recovery vehicles, to tow and recover vehicles of various sizes and types
- Safely load, unload, and secure vehicles following cargo securement protocols to prevent damage during transit
- Conduct automotive diagnostics and basic repairs on vehicles requiring assistance, utilizing mechanical knowledge and automotive repair skills
- Manage vehicle mechanics for truck drivers by troubleshooting issues related to manual transmissions and other mechanical systems
- Communicate effectively with customers, dispatchers, and emergency responders to coordinate safe recovery operations
- Follow all safety procedures and regulations during vehicle recovery, including conflict management when dealing with distressed or difficult clients
- Maintain accurate records of all towing activities, vehicle conditions, and inspection reports
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating tow trucks, particularly flatbeds or heavy-duty recovery vehicles
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on automotive diagnostics and repair skills
- Familiarity with vehicle mechanics for truck drivers and understanding of manual transmissions
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for heavy vehicles
- Experience with cargo securement protocols to ensure safe transport of recovered vehicles
- Ability to load & unload vehicles efficiently using forklifts or other lifting equipment when necessary
- Excellent customer service skills combined with conflict management abilities to handle challenging situations professionally
