Senior Cost Accountant: Browntown, WI
We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant / Senior Cost Accountant to play a key role in our client’s manufacturing finance team. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, supporting month-end and year-end close activities, and providing critical cost accounting analysis that drives informed business decisions. Working closely with the Controller and cross-functional operations teams, this individual will oversee manufacturing cost analysis, inventory valuation, standard costing, variance reporting, and financial planning while identifying opportunities to improve operational efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts
- Generate monthly financial reports and plant performance statements
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations
- Maintain fixed asset and tooling records
- Prepare for and participate in internal and external financial audits
- Participate in quarterly physical inventories and assist with inventory reconciliation
- Assist with accounts receivable activities and provide backup support for accounts payable and customer invoicing
- Analyze manufacturing costs, including labor, material, and overhead, to ensure accurate product costing
- Monitor inventory valuation and cost variances, investigating discrepancies and recommending corrective actions
- Review manufacturing variances, including labor, scrap, material usage, and production efficiencies, while partnering with operations to identify cost-saving opportunities
- Collaborate with operations, production, and leadership teams to improve financial visibility and support strategic decision-making
Skills & Experience :
- Education : Bachelor’s degree in Accounting , Finance, or Business Administration, required
- Experience : 3-5+ years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment, required
- Knowledge: Manufacturing processes & how they impact financial performance, required
- Software: Microsoft Office Suite proficiency & ERP/MRP experience, required
