Job Title: Senior Accountant

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant with a strong background in accounting and a solid understanding of construction accounting practices. This individual will play a key role in supporting the financial health of the company by preparing and managing critical accounting functions—including accounts receivable, billing, accounts payable, purchasing, and balance sheet account reconciliations—while adhering to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, manage, and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including but not limited to cash, accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, and purchasing-related accounts.
- Oversee and perform daily and monthly tasks related to accounts receivable, including billing, customer invoicing, payment application, and AR aging review.
- Manage accounts payable workflows such as vendor invoice processing, payment runs, purchase order matching, and AP aging review.
- Support the purchasing process by ensuring proper coding, documentation, and alignment with job cost and project budgets.
- Prepare and review financial documents, reports, and statements in compliance with GAAP and construction industry standards.
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy of monthly and quarterly financial closing processes.
- Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for ongoing construction operations.
- Review and ensure the accuracy of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger activities.
- Assist with the preparation of tax filings, including multi-state sales & use tax returns.
- Provide senior management with timely and accurate financial reports to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with other departments—including property management, project management, and operations—to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting.
- Stay up to date with changes in accounting regulations, construction accounting standards, and tax laws relevant to the industry.
- Perform additional accounting projects and duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of accounting experience, within the construction industry (a Plus)
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, construction accounting principles, and familiarity with Union-related requirements.
- Proficiency with accounting software; experience with Viewpoint Vista, Microsoft Excel, and other financial analysis tools preferred.
- Experience with Sales & Use tax, audits, and Union Benefits Payroll reconciliation is a significant plus.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to collaborate with team members, project managers, contractors, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Pay: $90,000.00 - $105,000.00 per year
