Part-Time Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
Location: Chadron, Nebraska
Pay: $70.00–$85.00 per hour
Schedule: Approximately one weekday per week, generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Hours: Approximately 8 hours per week

Heart-Centered Health is seeking a licensed Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide part-time primary and preventive healthcare services to youth and young adults ages 16–24 at a Vocation Training Center in Chadron, Nebraska.
This is a rewarding opportunity for a provider who enjoys working with young people and wants meaningful clinical work with a consistent, low-stress part-time schedule. The position offers predictable weekday hours and the opportunity to develop ongoing relationships with students and the onsite health and wellness team.
There are no nights, weekends, holidays, on-call responsibilities, hospital rounds, or emergency department coverage. The provider is not responsible for insurance billing, coding, claims submission, or other private-practice insurance paperwork.
Responsibilities
- Conduct admission physical examinations and health assessments
- Evaluate and treat minor illnesses, injuries, and episodic health concerns
- Manage common chronic conditions and develop treatment plans
- Prescribe controlled and non-controlled medications within the provider’s authorized scope
- Review medical histories, laboratory results, and applicant health records
- Provide preventive healthcare, immunization guidance, and health education
- Make referrals for specialty, emergency, or hospital care when appropriate
- Document student encounters, diagnoses, medications, and treatment plans
- Collaborate with nursing, mental health, substance-use counseling, and wellness staff
- Participate in occasional care-planning, disability accommodation, or applicant-review meetings during scheduled hours
- Support a respectful, encouraging, and trauma-informed healthcare environment

Required Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Nebraska Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license
- Current DEA registration
- Current Nebraska prescribing authority
- Ability to prescribe controlled medications within the provider’s authorized scope
- Current professional liability insurance with coverage of at least $1 million
- Ability to complete required credentialing and pass a criminal background check
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently
- Professional, dependable, and comfortable working with young adults from diverse backgrounds
Nurse Practitioners must have completed at least 2,000 hours of post-certification NP practice or already have a Nebraska-compliant transition-to-practice agreement. Physician Assistants must already have, or be able to document, a Nebraska-compliant collaborative agreement with a supervising physician.
All required licenses, prescribing credentials, registrations, insurance coverage, and applicable agreements must be current and available for verification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in family medicine, primary care, adolescent health, college health, community health, rural health, or occupational health
- Experience serving adolescents or young adults
- Experience working with underserved or financially disadvantaged populations
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and culturally responsive care
- At least one year of independent clinical practice
Schedule
Services are expected to be provided on a recurring weekday schedule, generally between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.
The position will typically involve one full weekday per week. Two shorter weekday visits may also be considered when mutually desirable.
Work Location
This is an on-site position in Chadron, Nebraska. Remote or telehealth-only applicants cannot be considered.
