Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Tool and Die Maker to design, build, set up and maintain precision tools, dies, fixtures and related equipment used in manufacturing. The ideal candidate will ensure components meet critical tolerances, support efficient production runs, troubleshoot tooling issues and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and tooling longevity.
Key Responsibilities

Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to plan tool and die fabrication and repairs.

Set up and operate CNC machines, milling machines, lathes, grinders and other equipment to produce precision components.

Build, modify and repair dies, molds, jigs and fixtures for stamping, forming and injection molding processes.

Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, CMM and other precision instruments to verify critical tolerances.

Perform tool and die setups on production machines and ensure correct alignment and function before runs.

Diagnose and troubleshoot tooling problems during production and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.

Collaborate with production, engineering and quality teams to optimize tooling design and process flow.

Maintain accurate documentation of tooling changes, maintenance and repair activities.

Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area, including preventive maintenance of tools and equipment.

Provide training and technical support to machinists and operators as needed.
Qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent; technical school certificate or completion of an apprenticeship in Tool & Die preferred.

3+ years of hands-on experience as a Tool and Die Maker or similar precision machining role.

Experience setting up and operating CNC machines, manual mills, lathes and grinders.

Proven ability to work to critical tolerances and perform precision measurements with micrometers, calipers and CMM.

Strong blueprint reading and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) skills.

Knowledge of tooling materials, heat treatment, metallurgy and surface finishes.

Familiarity with tooling fabrication techniques including EDM, welding and surface grinding.

Problem-solving mindset with experience troubleshooting tooling failures and implementing durable solutions.

Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a production environment.

Physical ability to lift and handle tooling; commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.
