POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Marine Personnel Coordinator is a key member of the Personnel Department and serves as a subject matter expert in crew management, workforce planning, recruiting, employee relations, and maritime personnel administration.
This role works closely with vessel crews, Operations, Safety, Maintenance, and Executive Leadership to ensure vessels are staffed with qualified personnel while maintaining compliance with Coast Guard regulations, company policies, and customer requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Crewing & Workforce Planning
- Coordinate crew changes and vessel staffing assignments
- Assist in maintaining appropriate manning levels across the fleet
- Develop and maintain crew rotation schedules
- Support workforce planning initiatives to meet operational demands
- Assist with succession planning and career path development
Recruiting & Retention
- Recruit licensed and unlicensed mariners including Captains, Pilots, Tankermen, Deckhands, Engineers, and Shoreside Personnel
- Develop recruiting strategies and candidate pipelines
- Conduct interviews and candidate evaluations
- Support employee retention initiatives and workforce engagement programs
- Participate in job fairs and industry recruiting events
Credential & Compliance Management
- Monitor and track Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMC)
- Monitor and track Transportation Worker Identification Credentials (TWIC)
- Maintain training records and certification requirements
- Ensure compliance with Coast Guard, DOT, and company requirements
- Coordinate physicals, drug testing, and credential renewals
Employee Relations
- Support employee investigations and conflict resolution efforts
- Assist with disciplinary actions and performance management processes
- Conduct vessel visits and engage directly with vessel personnel
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding policies, procedures, and employment matters
Continuous Improvement
- Assist in the development and improvement of personnel processes
- Support implementation of TMSA and Safety Management System (SMS) initiatives
- Participate in vessel audits and management vessel visits
- Monitor personnel department KPIs and workforce metrics
- Recommend process improvements to improve efficiency, retention, and workforce development
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of maritime crewing, personnel management, marine recruiting, vessel operations, or workforce management experience
- Strong knowledge of Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMC), TWIC requirements, and maritime personnel documentation
- Experience managing crew schedules and vessel staffing preferred
- Strong understanding of Coast Guard regulations and maritime workforce requirements
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build relationships with vessel crews and operational leadership
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and personnel tracking systems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous experience as a Personnel Manager, Crewing Manager, Crew Coordinator, Port Captain, Marine Recruiter, or Vessel Operations professional
- Experience in inland towing, marine transportation, offshore, or maritime operations
- Knowledge of Subchapter M, AWO Responsible Carrier Program, TMSA, or Safety Management Systems
