CareLink Community Services (CLCS) · Danville, VA
About CareLink Community Services
CareLink Community Services is a Virginia DBHDS-licensed provider dedicated to supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (ID/DD) to live full, connected lives in their community. We believe everyone deserves to belong — to have friends, hobbies, favorite places, and a real role in community life. If you love being out and about, meeting people, and helping others discover what they enjoy, this is the job for you.
Position Summary
As a Community Engagement DSP, you help the individuals we support get out into the community and truly be part of it. Rather than a center or classroom, your "workplace" is the community itself — libraries, parks, gyms, coffee shops, museums, volunteer sites, faith and social groups, recreation, and local events. Working with a small group, you facilitate meaningful participation, build natural relationships and community connections, and support each person's interests and the community goals in their ISP. Paid training and certifications provided.
What You'll Do
Support individuals to choose and take part in community, recreational, social, and volunteer activities; facilitate community integration and natural relationships; coach community/social/safety skills; promote dignity, choice, and self-advocacy; provide safe transportation to outings; maintain required supervision and safety/elopement/behavioral precautions in the community; respond to health/behavior/emergencies and administer medications on outings per the MAR (once certified); and complete accurate ISP-outcome documentation — always protecting each person's rights and dignity.
What We're Looking For
18+ with HS diploma/GED; valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation (essential — this is a driving role); outgoing, patient, dependable; able to pass a criminal background check, DSS Central Registry check, and drug screen; TB screening; able to stay active on outings. Preferred: DSP/community-support experience and CPR/First Aid, Med Admin, or TOVA/CPI certs.
What We Offer
Paid training and certifications; competitive pay; flexible daytime FT/PT schedules; an active out-in-the-community role; mileage/vehicle support as applicable; growth into leadership. (Add your specific benefits.)
Equal Opportunity Employer; employment contingent on background checks per Virginia DBHDS licensing.
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Work Location: In person
