MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

Summary:
Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for proper maintenance and improvement of buildings, equipment, and grounds. Maintenance Supervisor will perform most maintenance work personally and may coordinate activities of other employees in the total scope of performing, planning, and assigning maintenance work. Maintenance Supervisor will implement procedures and recommend improvements to maintenance practices & procedures while ensuring a smooth and consistent operation.
Essential Functions:
· Perform, coordinate, direct and lead maintenance activities.
· Determine maintenance work schedules and expedite tasks & projects.
· When required, supervise production employees assigned to maintenance work to obtain top quality workmanship, efficiency, commitment and teamwork.
· Provide knowledge, know-how, and training for mechanical and maintenance-related processes.
· Coordinate tools, supplies, and materials for maintenance jobs.
· Ensure that proper safety procedures and incident reporting procedures are followed.
· Responsible for maintenance shop organization and housekeeping.
· Recognize and communicate any priority maintenance projects or maintenance problems.
· Recognize and report to Human Resources any employee problems or personnel issues.
· Setup work areas for the next day.
· Seasonal maintenance such as plowing snow in winter.
· May be required to open and close the building or the yard.
· May be required to come in early, stay late, and/or adopt special work schedules as needed to carry out maintenance tasks or projects.
Education/Experience:
· High School Diploma.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
· 5+ years working in a material handling and/or manufacturing plant.
· 10+ years in maintenance & repair of equipment.
· Hands-on with strong attention to detail.
· Ability to problem solve.
· Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
· Able to troubleshoot equipment and determine maintenance & spare parts needs.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
· Physical exertion required.
· Heavy lifting and moving of equipment; lifting of up to 50 pounds.
· Regularly required to stand, walk, bend and move about the facility.
· Exposure to shop elements such as noise, dust, fumes and odors.
· Safety glasses and ear plugs will be required.
