Plastic Lab Technician – Overview
A Plastic Lab Technician is responsible for testing and evaluating plastic materials and finished products to make sure they meet quality and performance standards. This role supports production, quality control, and sometimes R&D by running tests, tracking results, and helping identify any issues with materials or processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform quality checks on raw materials and finished products to ensure they meet specs
- Run tests such as tensile strength, density, moisture content, and color analysis
- Prepare samples for testing (cutting, molding, grinding, etc.)
- Record and track test results accurately, reporting any issues or inconsistencies
- Calibrate and maintain lab equipment to ensure accurate readings
- Monitor production processes like compounding or injection molding for consistency
- Communicate findings with production and management teams
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in a related field is a plus
- 1–3 years of lab or manufacturing experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of plastics/materials and testing methods
- Familiar with Microsoft Office; experience with lab systems (LIMS) is a bonus
- Ability to work in both lab and production environments

Pay: $22.38 - $26.96 per hour
