Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct care and support to medically fragile children in a Prescribed Pediatric Extended Care (PPEC) center. The CNA works under the supervision of licensed nursing staff (RN/LPN) to assist with daily care needs, monitor patient safety, and support therapeutic and educational activities that promote growth, development, and quality of life for each child.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care including bathing, feeding, dressing, toileting, repositioning, and mobility assistance.
- Assist with vital signs, intake/output monitoring, and documentation as directed by nursing staff.
- Support children in participation with therapies, educational activities, and play that align with care plans.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive environment by following infection control, safety, and emergency procedures.
- Monitor for changes in the child’s condition and promptly report observations to the nurse.
- Assist with the setup and cleaning of equipment and supplies used for patient care.
- Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients and families.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure individualized care plans are carried out.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care provided.
Qualifications
- Active CNA certification in the state of employment.
- Current CPR certification (pediatric preferred).
- Experience working with children, especially those with complex medical needs, is strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate, patient, and reliable with a genuine interest in pediatric care.
Working Conditions
- Indoor PPEC center environment with direct interaction with children, families, and healthcare staff.
- May require lifting, transferring, or repositioning children with special equipment.
- Full-time, part-time, and shift options may be available depending on center needs.

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
