Legacy Staffing has partnered with a well-established university in Cleveland, OH to hire a Grants Account Manager. This is a first shift opportunity with a competitive salary based on experience, education, and grant administration expertise. This role focuses on supporting sponsored research activities through pre-award and post-award grant administration. The Grants Account Manager will partner with faculty, researchers, and university leadership to manage complex grant portfolios, ensure compliance with sponsor requirements, oversee financial reporting, and support successful research funding initiatives throughout the grant lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead complex grant proposal development and submission activities in collaboration with Principal Investigators (PIs).
- Develop and review proposal budgets, budget narratives, and supporting documentation.
- Interpret sponsor guidelines and ensure proposals comply with institutional and funding agency requirements.
- Manage a high-volume proposal workload that may exceed 100 submissions annually.
- Oversee an assigned sponsored research portfolio, typically valued at $5M+ in active awards.
- Monitor grant expenditures, budgets, effort allocations, and account reconciliations.
- Provide financial reporting, forecasting, and budgeting guidance to faculty and research teams.
- Review expenditures for allowability and compliance with university and sponsor requirements.
- Coordinate award setup and transitions between pre-award and post-award administration.
- Manage subawards, subrecipient monitoring, modifications, and expense approvals.
- Prepare interim and final financial and administrative reports for sponsors.
- Support project closeouts, effort certification, continuation funding, budget revisions, and no-cost extensions.
- Maintain documentation to support internal and external audits.
- Assist with process improvements, training initiatives, and best practices for grant administration.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience OR Associate's degree and a minimum of 7 years of related experience.
- Experience in sponsored research administration, grant management, research finance, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of federal and non-federal sponsored research regulations and requirements.
- Experience working with funding agencies such as NIH, NSF, DoD, DoE, foundations, or similar sponsors.
- Demonstrated experience developing, monitoring, and managing complex grant budgets.
- Knowledge of pre-award and/or post-award research administration.
- Strong understanding of grant compliance, financial management, and sponsored research regulations.
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and research administration/financial management systems.
- Experience with PeopleSoft and/or Oracle is a plus.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with faculty, administrators, researchers, and sponsors.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a university, academic research, healthcare, medical research, or nonprofit environment.
- Experience supporting complex research portfolios and high-volume proposal activity.
