Performance competencies & responsibilities:
Communication

Ability to effectively communicate material, tool and personnel needs to supervisor

Receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers, supervisors and subcontractors
Planning

Understand commercial blueprints and project specifications

Ability to do necessary takeoffs per the blueprints and project specifications

Ensure materials and equipment are procured in a timely manner
Health & Safety expertise

Monitor and ensure on-site safety compliance, cleanliness, and job site organization

Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards

Complete OSHA 10 Certification

Understand and maintain Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) guidelines

Understand and maintain Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM)
Installation
-
Studies blueprints and project specifications to layout and determine dimensions and materials required
-
Installs framing, drywall, doors and frames, acoustic ceilings, hardware, and cabinets, etc. using materials such as: wood, steel, metal, concrete, plastics, and composites of multiple materials

Layout and install window frames, doors, door frames, door hardware, interior and exterior trim using required carpentry tools

Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground levels

Cut materials into specified measurements, using required carpentry tools

Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors, or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using required carpentry tools
-
Remove damaged or defective parts or sections of structures and repair or replace, using required carpentry tools
-
Inspect ceiling or floor tile, wall coverings, siding, glass, or woodwork to detect broken or damaged structures
-
Station necessary materials around jobsite as needed for workflow and ingress and egress
Other job-related duties as assigned
