Quality Inspector – Precision Machined Components
Location: Summerville, SC
Pay: $45–$55 per hour W2, depending on experience
Schedule: Full-time, onsite
Contract Length: 3–6 months
Overtime: May be available with prior approval
We are hiring three experienced Quality Inspectors to support source and final inspection of precision-machined components. This hands-on position requires strong dimensional inspection skills, proficiency with analog measuring equipment, and the ability to independently establish inspection and fixturing methods.
Candidates must be experienced in machine-shop inspection. Aerospace experience limited primarily to aircraft skins, structures, interiors, or assembly will not meet the requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform source, in-process, and final inspections
- Inspect machined components to tolerances as tight as ±0.0001”
- Use analog micrometers, bore gauges, tri-mics, calipers, indicators, height gauges, and other precision instruments
- Independently set up gauges, fixtures, and V-blocks
- Inspect runout, cylindricity, concentricity, size, shape, geometry, and tolerance
- Inspect metal components and soft goods, including gaskets and O-rings
- Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, specifications, and inspection plans
- Accurately document inspection results
- Identify and communicate nonconforming conditions
- Help reduce a production inspection backlog in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Required Qualifications
- Previous Quality Inspector experience in a machine-shop or precision-manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated experience performing manual measurements to 0.0001”
- Hands-on experience with analog micrometers, bore gauges, and tri-mics
- Strong knowledge of GD&T and dimensional inspection techniques
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
- Experience with source and final inspection
- Ability to independently establish inspection and fixturing methods
- Experience inspecting high-mix, low-volume manufactured components
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
- Must be able to work onsite in Summerville, SC
- Must be a U.S. citizen
- Must be able to pass a drug test and background check
Preferred Experience
Experience inspecting components associated with one or more of the following:
- Pumps, valves, stems, or valve bodies
- Turbines or compressors
- Gearing and drive systems
- Fluid-handling equipment
- Power-generation equipment
- Engines or mechanical systems
- Military or Navy ship equipment
- Gaskets and O-rings
Experience with VICI Vision, Keyence IM8000, or Keyence LJ8000 optical measurement systems is highly desirable.
