About Palmetto Academic Learning Station
Palmetto Academic Learning Station (PALS) is a caring, energizing learning community dedicated to helping children grow through structured play, movement, and developmentally appropriate curriculum. We’re looking for an educator who is kind, capable, and inspired to work with young children of all ages in a DSS-licensed childcare setting.
The Opportunity
As a Part Time Teacher at PALS, you’ll create a safe, engaging classroom experience for various age group of children. You will plan and facilitate daily schedules, implement curriculum activities, and lead movement and enrichment blocks that support the social, emotional, and academic growth of each child.
What You’ll Do
- Supervise, engage, and support children during scheduled classroom hours in a DSS-licensed program.
- Follow daily schedules aligned with classroom goals and children’s needs.
- Plan and deliver age-appropriate curriculum, movement, and enrichment activities.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and inclusive classroom environment; uphold DSS health and safety standards.
- Communicate effectively with families and teammates; support positive behavior and conflict resolution.
- Complete required documentation (attendance, incident reports) accurately and on time.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth transitions, coverage, and program quality.
Qualifications — Required
- 6+ months of experience working in a DSS-licensed childcare facility.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Ability to pass a Central Registry check and fingerprint-based background check.
- Willingness to complete all DSS-required onboarding and training classes.
- Reliable transportation and consistent, on-time attendance for the 11:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. schedule.
Nice to Have (Preferred)
- Coursework, credential, or training in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
- Experience leading group activities, academic support/homework help, or behavior guidance.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
Schedule
- Monday–Friday, 7:00am-1:00pm or 12:30pm- 5:30 p.m. (no weekends).
- Occasional staff trainings or family events as scheduled.
