Habitat Control Technician
Position Summary
If you enjoy working outdoors, solving practical problems in the field, and helping landowners support wildlife habitat, this role offers hands-on experience in wildlife management services. Habitat Control Technicians travel to client properties, perform herbicide and mechanical brush management services on client properties (herbicide application and trimming, or removal of target tree and brush species), maintain wildlife management products, complete assigned services, and document field activity with accuracy and professionalism.
What You’ll Do
- Apply herbicide treatments when required to support effective habitat management.
- Perform brush management services using powered equipment such as chainsaws, brush cutters, power loppers, pruning saws, and other powered equipment to trim, remove, or otherwise manage target vegetation.
- Document field activity using GIS tools, Avenza Pro, and a company-issued iPad.
- Operate company fleet vehicles safely, including off-road driving when service conditions require.
- Communicate professionally with clients, coworkers, supervisors, and team managers throughout service delivery.
- Report field issues, safety concerns, schedule impacts, and service challenges to supervisors in a timely manner.
Training and Support
Newly hired technicians complete required training with a Team Manager or Level III Wildlife Technician. Wilderness First Aid Certification is required before general power-equipment training, and a comprehensive first aid course is conducted by certified trainers on staff.

Schedule, Travel, and Work Environment
The Products & Services Team dispatches technicians across multiple counties and regions to perform brush management and wildlife management services. Technicians must reliably cover assigned service appointments, including appointments located long distances from a base of operations.
The role requires strong decision making, communication, and problem-solving skills in the field. Technicians must be prepared to work in extreme weather, travel over irregular or rough terrain on foot, operate vehicles off-road, and stay overnight in company-paid lodging when service appointments are outside an assigned service region.

What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or GED
- Current driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Physical stamina to work in extreme weather conditions
- Physical conditioning to walk across irregular and rough terrain
- Willingness to stay overnight in company-paid lodging for one or more nights when required for service appointments
- Effective interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
