Our Night Auditor plays an important role in ensuring our guests receive the same level of care and professionalism overnight that they receive during the day.
We are looking for a dependable, professional, detail-oriented Night Auditor who is comfortable working independently and takes pride in providing excellent guest service while maintaining accurate hotel operations.
About the Position
The Night Auditor is responsible for overseeing the hotel's front desk operation during the overnight shift while completing the daily financial audit and preparing the property for the following day.
This position is ideal for someone who is organized, trustworthy, comfortable with numbers and computers, and able to make good decisions independently.
During the overnight hours, you will be the primary point of contact for our guests. You will assist with late arrivals, guest requests, reservations, and concerns while also completing the hotel's nightly audit, balancing transactions, preparing and loading reports, and helping ensure the property remains safe and secure.
What You'll DoGuest Service & Front Desk
- Provide a warm, professional, and welcoming experience to every guest.
- Check guests in and out and assist with reservations, room assignments, and other front desk functions.
- Respond promptly and professionally to guest questions, requests, and concerns.
- Resolve guest issues whenever possible and appropriately escalate matters when management assistance is needed.
- Handle overnight guest requests and ensure follow-through.
- Process payments, deposits, refunds, and other guest transactions accurately.
- Maintain accurate guest records and front desk documentation.
- Process Express Check-Outs and prepare information for the morning team.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional front desk and lobby area.
Night Audit & Financial Responsibilities
- Complete the hotel's Night Audit / End-of-Day process accurately and on schedule.
- Balance the day's financial activity and verify hotel transactions.
- Review and reconcile applicable room, front desk, food and beverage, telephone, and other revenue transactions.
- Complete all required Night Audit checklists and procedures.
- Prepare and distribute required daily financial and operational reports.
- Review direct bill accounts and ensure appropriate documentation is attached and completed.
- Verify folios, vouchers, charge documents, and other financial paperwork.
- Identify discrepancies and investigate or report issues appropriately.
- Complete morning reports and prepare accurate information for management and the incoming front office team.
- Follow all established cash-handling, accounting, and audit procedures.
Overnight Operations & Security
- Monitor the hotel and remain alert to guest safety, security, and property concerns.
- Conduct or coordinate overnight property and guest corridor checks as required.
- Follow all hotel safety, security, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain communication with other overnight associates as necessary.
- Ensure overnight common-area checks are completed and the property remains clean, orderly, and secure.
- Follow up on the removal of room service trays and other overnight items, as applicable.
- Maintain accurate overnight logs and records.
- Properly handle Lost & Found items according to hotel procedures.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies and contact management or emergency services when necessary.
Teamwork & Communication
- Provide a thorough and accurate shift handoff to the morning team.
- Communicate important guest, maintenance, security, and operational issues to management.
- Maintain professional communication with all hotel departments.
- Assist with training new Night Auditors when requested.
- Attend meetings and training as required.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by the Front Office Manager or hotel management.

Qualifications
- At least 1 year of hotel, hospitality, front desk, accounting, or related experience preferred.
- Comfortable working with computers and hotel operating systems.
- Experience with spreadsheets and standard office applications preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong guest service skills and a professional demeanor.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and make sound decisions independently.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to remain calm and professional when dealing with difficult situations.
- Must be dependable and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be comfortable working overnight hours, including weekends and holidays as scheduled.
