Overview
The Production Technician in the chemical mixing industry plays an essential role in the preparation and blending of chemicals for various industrial applications. In this position, you will be responsible for operating blending equipment and pumps to mix chemicals in the proper ratios. You will ensure that all blended materials meet quality and safety standards, support production needs, and maintain a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
Duties
- Chemical Blending: Accurately blend chemicals according to standard operating procedures, ensuring the correct chemical ratios and consistency for the final product.
- Pump Operation: Operate and monitor pumps used in chemical blending processes, ensuring proper flow rates and maintaining optimal performance.
- Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain pumps, mixers, and other blending equipment to ensure functionality and avoid downtime.
- Quality Control: Perform quality checks on blended chemicals to ensure they meet specifications and adhere to safety standards.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and procedures when handling chemicals and operating equipment to prevent accidents or spills.
- Documentation: Record blending operations, including chemicals used, batch numbers, and any maintenance or issues with equipment.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve any issues related to blending equipment or chemical mixtures to prevent production delays.
- Collaborative Support: Work closely with other technicians and production staff to ensure seamless operations and timely production.
Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in a production or chemical mixing environment is preferred but not required.
- Technical Skills: Basic understanding of pump operation, chemical properties, and mixing processes.
- Safety Knowledge: Knowledge of safety protocols related to chemical handling, PPE use, and hazardous material disposal.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, move, and handle equipment and materials up to 50 lbs, as well as work in varying temperature conditions.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy and precision when blending chemicals and monitoring equipment.
- Communication: Ability to effectively communicate with team members and supervisors to report progress or issues.
