ABOUT THE ROLE
Tinker Art Studio is a hub for community and connection through art making. We’re looking for a highly organized, people-oriented professional to be the face of our studio and the person who keeps daily operations running smoothly.
The Executive Assistant works directly with the Owner and General Manager to manage the front desk, communications, registration, scheduling, inventory, and the day-to-day flow of the studio — while also serving as front-of-house and a warm first point of contact for the families, students, and teachers who move through our doors.
This is a year-round role that changes shape with the seasons. During the school year, it balances daily front desk operations with longer-term administrative projects and systems work. During summer camps — our busiest, fastest-paced season — it shifts into a camp-operations leadership role, overseeing the Front Desk team and our Teen Volunteer Assistant Program while helping roughly 130 campers a day move through the studio. The right person is energized by both the steady rhythm of the school year and the high-energy pace of summer.
Before applying, spend some time on our website at tinkerartstudio.com. We want candidates who feel genuinely excited about what we do.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Front desk & customer experience
- Serve as the “face of the studio” — the first point of contact for students, families, teachers, volunteers, and prospective customers, in person, by phone, and over email
- Manage all front desk operations during studio hours
- Provide warm, responsive customer service and represent Tinker’s culture at every interaction
Studio operations & daily flow
- Oversee studio transitions — classroom resets, teacher support, and preparing the studio for each day’s programming
- Support general studio cleanliness, organization, and aesthetics
- Manage materials and coordinate pottery and artwork pick-up
- Sub or step in as an Assistant Teacher when needed, and support Friday birthday parties (including prep such as banners and cakes, or delegating it)
Registration, rosters & records
- Manage rosters across classes, camps, and workshops
- Track student attendance, log absences, and follow up with families
- Support the registration process and manage payment plans
- Handle pottery notifications, labels, and related records
Administration, systems & projects
- Write, update, and maintain studio systems, SOPs, and procedures
- Manage inventory and materials oversight
- Support automation and tools (e.g., Zapier) that keep operations running efficiently
- Prepare for School Day Off Camps and take on special projects as assigned
Team & volunteer coordination
- Delegate to and support the Front Desk team and Assistant Teachers, especially during busy camp transitions
- During summer, oversee the Front Desk team and coordinate day-to-day camp operations
- Run the Teen Volunteer Assistant Program (TVAP) end to end — planning, recruiting, scheduling, training, and managing teen volunteers across the summer
WHO YOU ARE
- Highly organized with strong follow-through — you don’t let things fall through the cracks
- Warm, clear, and professional in person, on the phone, and in writing
- A natural multitasker who stays calm and positive in a busy, fast-paced environment
- Genuinely enjoy working with children, families, and a team
- Comfortable delegating, coordinating people, and leading a small team during the summer season
- Fluent with digital tools: spreadsheets, email platforms, scheduling and registration systems
- Self-directed and action-oriented — you anticipate needs and take initiative
- Reliable, flexible, and able to adapt as the studio’s needs shift day to day and season to season
- You can lift and move up to 50 lbs, and set up and break down tables, easels, and other equipment

This is a year-round role. During the school year, it centers on front desk operations, administration, and systems projects. During camp weeks when no other programming is running (i.e. Thanksgiving Break Camp, Winter Break Camps, and Spring Break Camp), hours are 8:30am–4:30pm. On the other camp days, Monday hours begin at 11:00am (rather than 3:00pm) and Tuesday/Wednesday hours follow the regular schedule; weekly hours are adjusted (typically on Fridays) to balance the total hours worked those weeks. Camp dates for the 2026–2027 school year are listed below.

A NOTE ON FIT
We want to be upfront about something specific to this role: this position does not include studio membership or additional studio access beyond class credits. Team members receive class credits to use toward classes or workshops at Tinker Art Studio or Clay Hub — and when participating as a student, they’re treated just like any other student, fully separate from their work role. This keeps the boundary between work and creative time healthy and clear. The right person is genuinely excited about supporting our students without needing to be part of the studio as an artist themselves.
ABOUT TINKER
