The Residences at Greenwood, a division of Medical Services of America, Inc., currently seeks an experienced Full-Time Food Services Director in Greenwood & Greenville, SC.
Responsible for planning, organizing and managing the food service department and ensuring the consistent delivery of quality food service.
- Adheres to and conveys a philosophy that supports the dignity, privacy, independence, choice, and individuality of residents.
- Prepares and services meals as indicated on planning menus, using standardized portion sizes and approved substitutions.
- Assists the Executive Director with hiring, training and supervision of other food service employees.
- Schedules all food service staff, ensuring coverage for all shifts, with assistance from the Executive Director as needed.
- Conducts performance evaluations for all other food service staff, with assistance from the Executive Director as needed.
- Ensures the kitchen and food service areas are maintained in a clean and safe manner and assures compliance with the State sanitation codes.
- Ensure resident, staff and guest meals are accounted for according to established procedures.
- Inventories and orders food products and supplies on a regular basis to ensure an adequate supply is maintained.
- Ensures food service costs are maintained within established budgetary guidelines.
- Ensures meals are served in a timely, attractive and tasteful manner.
- Assures resident food preferences are met.
- Visits with residents in the dining room to assure resident satisfaction and obtain feedback; meets with Resident Food Committee as requested to obtain input regarding menus and satisfaction with meals.
- Consults with a Registered Dietitian on an as-needed basis for assistance in meeting any special needs of residents.
- Monitors for changes in the status of residents and reports such observations to the Executive Director or Community Nurse.
- Reports any abuse, suspected abuse or alleged abuse to the appropriate agency(s).
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
- Assists and schedules appropriately for family night and special events.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
- Desire to work with the elderly in an environment that upholds privacy, dignity, choice, independence, and individuality.
- Experience working with elderly individuals in an Assisted Living setting required.
- Prior experience performing care giving tasks required.
- Able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds, to occasionally lift more than 50 pounds, and to spend long periods of time standing.
- Ability to work well with others and to function effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to effectively supervise other food service staff members; good interpersonal skills.
- Working knowledge of the rules and regulations related to health and safety in food preparation.
