TITLE: ENERGY AUDITOR/ CREW ELECTRICIAN
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Auditor/Inspector
SALARY RANGE: This is a hybrid position, paying at different ranges depending upon the work performed. For Auditor, the current range is $31.08 – 37.73/hour. When performing Crew work, the employee is paid at the prevailing wage for the specialty work performed. Current range depending upon specialty is $62.31 – 107.92/hour. Approximately 60% of the employee’s time will be assigned to Auditor duties, and 40% to prevailing wage Crew duties.
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Weatherization (Wx) Program Coordinator, and Wx Crew Lead
PROGRAM: Weatherization/Home Repair
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Weatherization (Wx) and Home Repair Program serves low-income households in Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties. Services include home insulation, HVAC, general carpentry and general electrical, with an emphasis upon improving home energy efficiency. We subcontract for some of these services, and perform some work ourselves.
CCAP is seeking a Certified Electrical Technician who is also either certified as a BPI Energy Auditor, or willing to obtain that certification within six months after hire. The successful candidate will be very flexible, committed to providing high quality in all work performed, customer-oriented, and work well within a team.
Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, with no barriers to driving an agency vehicle. Candidates must be able to perform the essential physical tasks required to conduct audits and inspections.
While the position is based in Aberdeen, the Auditor/Crew electrician works primarily in the field.
FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
For Energy Auditor:
- Obtain and maintain all required training and certifications. These include, but are not limited to; BPI Energy Auditor certification within 6 months after date of hire, and Quality Control Inspector (QCI) within 12 months after hire.
- Receive referrals, in person, by phone and by other media.
- Maintain a detailed working knowledge of the applicant waitlist.
- Consistently complete 1-2 home audits per week.
- Consistently maintain project files, entering all required documentation with one working day of completing the filed component of an audit.
- Under the supervision of the energy Program Coordinator, provide site management to contractors throughout the course of each project.
- Maintain consistent and timely communication with each household served throughout their project.
- Document all customer contacts, contractor contacts and other substantial activities, within one working day of occurrence.
- Assist the contractors and households served in resolving questions and conflicts as they arise.
- Complete QCI inspections near the close of each projects.
- Ensure that contractors complete or remedy any needs identified by the QCI.
- Close projects in a timely manner after successful QCI.
- Work with the Energy Program Coordinator to maintain an agreed production schedule, emphasizing assistance to a large volume of households annually, assuring quality of service and maintaining overall average costs within expectations.
- Establish strong working relationships with regional contractors. Assist in recruiting new general and specialty contractors.
- Participate in regular team meetings.
- Participate in other CCAP functions and community forums as directed.
- Maintain all agency equipment and vehicles in good working condition.
- Other duties as assigned.
For Crew Electrician:
1. Obtain and maintain all required training and certifications. These include certifications to perform measures other than electrical. This generally impacts the employee’s earning capacity positively, by providing access to higher prevailing wage rates.
2. Perform general electrical inspections, to confirm current systems are functioning and to identify any potential hazards. Provide a written report identifying any needed repairs and proposed energy efficiency improvements.
3. Assist the Crew Lead in formulating bids for proposed electrical measures.
4. Complete approved electrical measures, to high, external inspection standards.
5. Assist in completion of any other measures, for which the Crew Electrician is qualified.
6. Complete all required documentation, within specified timeframes, with no errors.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Certified Electrical Technician, with at least two years’ relevant professional experience.
2. Ability to obtain BPI Energy Auditor certification within 180 days, and QCI cortication within 360 days.
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Excellent customer service skills. Ability to relate effectively and without judgment to diverse individuals.
5. Valid driver’s license and good driving record, with no impediments to driving an agency vehicle and being covered by agency insurance.
6. Ability to complete the essential physical tasks required for Auditor and Crew duties.
- Ability to pass and maintain a back ground check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current BPI Energy Auditor and QCI certifications.
2. Three to five years’ experience working in the construction trades.
- Bilingual (Spanish-English) or tribal affiliation highly desirable.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills including basic office programs and the ability to learn and utilize appropriate database programs.
LOCATION/WORKING HOURS: Grays Harbor/Pacific County. 8a -5p, M-F, with occasional variation. The position is based in Aberdeen, WA, but provides outreach throughout Grays Harbor and Pacific Counties.
