Position Overview
Honest Water Filter Company is seeking a driven, field-oriented Sales Representative to accelerate profitable growth by opening strategic new accounts through the plumbing channel.
This is a true hunter and new-business development role for someone who is energized by creating opportunities, building relationships, educating prospects, and winning business in a competitive market. The Sales Representative will own the new-business process—from identifying and qualifying prospects through presentation, negotiation, closing, and successful customer onboarding.
The right candidate will be able to translate Honest’s product performance, certifications, technical capabilities, and dealer-support model into clear business value for plumbing contractors. This includes helping prospective partners understand how water treatment can strengthen their customer relationships, expand their service offering, and become a profitable and sustainable part of their business.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, resilient, organized, coachable, and comfortable working independently in the field. Success requires disciplined prospecting, consistent customer engagement, strong product knowledge, CRM accountability, effective follow-through, and the ability to turn technical information into customer confidence and action.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop new business within the assigned territory or target market by identifying, prospecting, qualifying, and pursuing strategic plumbing-channel accounts.
- Create and execute a disciplined weekly prospecting plan that includes outbound calls, emails, follow-ups, customer visits, product demonstrations, and scheduled meetings.
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline of qualified prospects and actively move opportunities through each stage of the sales process.
- Conduct effective sales presentations and product demonstrations that clearly communicate Honest’s product value, certifications, benefits, and competitive advantages.
- Educate prospective partners on the value of water filtration, the benefits it provides to homeowners, and the revenue opportunity it creates for plumbing contractors.
- Understand each prospect’s needs, challenges, and goals, and recommend appropriate solutions that support both customer outcomes and long-term account potential.
- Confidently address objections involving price, product familiarity, competition, customer demand, and the perceived complexity of entering the water treatment category.
- Consistently work toward defined new-account, revenue, activity, and pipeline-development goals.
- Accurately document prospecting activity, customer interactions, follow-ups, quotes, opportunities, and sales progress in the CRM.
- Provide management with meaningful weekly updates on activity, pipeline movement, closing opportunities, customer feedback, obstacles, and support needs.
- Gather and communicate market intelligence, competitive information, recurring objections, customer needs, and potential growth opportunities.

Performance Expectations and Accountability
This role will be successful only if the Sales Representative consistently operates as a proactive new-business developer. The Sales Representative is expected to maintain consistent communication with management regarding weekly activity, pipeline progress, customer feedback, obstacles, and closing opportunities. All activity, follow-up, quotes, and sales progress must be accurately tracked in the CRM and reviewed weekly.
Success requires more than activity alone. The Sales Representative must consistently create new opportunities, move qualified prospects through the sales process, and close new accounts on a monthly basis.
The Sales Representative is expected to identify where opportunities are stalling or being lost, communicate those challenges clearly, apply internal training and coaching, and adjust their approach to improve results. This includes learning Honest's sales process, product positioning, objection-handling, and closing strategy.
This role will not be successful if the Sales Representative waits for inbound leads, fails to prospect consistently, does not maintain CRM accuracy, avoids customer engagement, does not apply training, or does not convert opportunities into new accounts.
Key Challenges in the RoleOvercoming Market Education and Price Resistance
Many plumbing companies and prospects may initially say no because they are unfamiliar with water filtration, do not fully understand the opportunity, or believe the products are too expensive for the end user. These objections must be expected, understood, and professionally overcome.
The Sales Representative must reframe the conversation from product cost to customer value, health and protection, product performance, certification, repeat business potential, and additional revenue for the contractor. Success requires applying internal training, handling objections with confidence, and helping prospects understand why water filtration can become a meaningful and profitable part of their business.
Limited Industry Recognition
As an Honest Sales Representative, you will face the challenge of establishing trust within an industry where the brand is not yet a well-known name. To overcome this, you will need to leverage the certified nature of the products and highlight their superior features, benefits, and capabilities in every sales conversation.
Competing Against Established Suppliers
The market includes established suppliers, making it challenging to penetrate accounts that are loyal to competitors. The Sales Representative must differentiate Honest's offerings by emphasizing unique value propositions, product capabilities, certification data, and industry knowledge.
Building a Sales Pipeline from Scratch
Given the company's limited recognition and the competitive landscape, you may need to build a pipeline of prospects largely from scratch. Persistence, creativity, and a methodical approach to prospecting are essential to building a pipeline that can sustain growth and drive market penetration.
Required Skills and Attributes

- Strong outside-sales and hunter mentality, with the ability to generate interest, develop relationships, and create opportunities without relying primarily on inbound leads.
- Proven experience managing a sales process from prospecting and qualification through presentation, negotiation, and close.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to understand technical product information and communicate it in a clear, relevant, and persuasive manner.
- Self-motivated, accountable, and comfortable working independently while maintaining consistent prospecting and customer-contact activity.
- Resilient and persistent, with the ability to handle rejection, address objections, learn from lost opportunities, and adjust the sales approach when needed.
- Organized and disciplined in CRM usage, follow-up, pipeline management, forecasting, and activity reporting.
- Coachable and willing to learn and consistently apply Honest’s sales process, product positioning, and closing strategies.
- Customer-focused and able to understand a prospect’s business needs, concerns, and goals.
