Job Summary
Grace is hiring for two teacher assistant positions; one for Lower Elementary (grades 1st-3rd) and one for Upper Elementary (4th-6th grade).

In this role, you will work closely with your lead teacher to implement Montessori principles, foster independence, and create a stimulating classroom atmosphere that promotes growth in literacy, math, social skills, and emotional development. Your positive energy and commitment will help lay the foundation for children’s lifelong love of learning while ensuring a safe, organized, and engaging space for all students.
Duties
- Assist lead teachers in preparing and organizing Montessori materials and classroom activities aligned with curriculum goals.
- Support individual and group lessons in literacy education, math, and other core subjects to meet diverse student needs.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive environment by encouraging positive behavior management strategies and social-emotional development.
- Observe and document children’s progress, communicating insights to teachers to tailor instruction effectively.
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment that adheres to health and safety standards.
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by implementing individualized strategies under supervision.
- Engage with children during activities such as toddler care, preschool routines, and Montessori-based learning exercises to promote independence and curiosity.
- Assist with drop-off and pickup of students.
- Monitor recess.
- Help with record keeping and organizing student work.
Experience
- Prior experience working with school age children from 1st-6th grade.
- Knowledge of early childhood development principles and Montessori methodology is essential.
- Experience with lesson planning, curriculum development, and classroom management techniques.
- Familiarity with working with children with autism or other disabilities enhances your ability to support diverse learners.
- Demonstrated communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, parents, and team members.
- Previous classroom experience involving behavior management strategies is advantageous.
- Certification or coursework in special education or literacy education is a plus but not required.
Requirements
- Must obtain a NCDHHS Childcare Background Check
- Must complete a TB Screening
- Must provide a physical that is within 1 year of the date of employment

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
