Parts Counter Associate
The Parts Counter Associate is responsible for assisting mechanics and customers with purchasing needs for parts and supplies.

Job Description:

Handling parts payment collection and making sure all parts are billed correctly through service department, mechanical and collision repair

Complete appropriate record keeping; including tagging all parts with customer name and job number for easy reference

Help retail counter and wholesale customers identify and purchase the correct parts or accessories using electronic catalogs or parts manuals

Process warranty parts claims and returns according to manufacturer and dealership policies

Use computerized catalogs and inventory systems to look up part numbers, check stock levels, and place orders for out-of-stock items

Receive, unpack, and store incoming shipments, verify quantities and updating records in a timely manner

Answer phone calls providing parts price quotes and other inquiries

Issue correct parts and supplies to service technicians to support repairs

Prepare and ship parts orders to customers or other locations, following proper packaging to prevent damage

Follow up on back-ordered parts and ensure timely delivery to maintain workflow

Notify service personnel and retail customers when special-ordered parts orders arrive

Keep the parts counter and stockroom clean, organized, and well-stocked replenishing inventory daily

Other duties assigned by the Parts Manager
Environmental & Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers to feel and handle, reach with arms and hands, talk and hear.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may incidentally be required to stoop, kneel and crouch, lift weight or exert a force up to a maximum of 50 pounds

Skills & Qualifications:

Previous parts counter, inventory or related automotive experience is required

Excellent customer service skills
-
Attention to detail is crucial to ensure parts are researched and stored correctly, and all records are accurate
-
Operating a forklift in warehouse or dealership settings for receiving, stocking, and moving inventory is preferred, but not required
