Overview:
Michigan Staffing is working with a new local company.
The Shipping & Receiving / Materials Technician is responsible for assembling and routing various types of printed material accurately and timely by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- Receives, reviews, and processes requests for materials, supplies, and equipment needed for specific projects and general activities.
- Determines accuracy of paper work by closely reviewing pertinent information on documents and purchase requests that are sent to Procurement.
- Rechecks quantities and condition of materials delivered and takes corrective action when appropriate; verifies receipt of shipments when original invoice is received and certifies invoices for payment.
- Prepares information and reports as required.
- Must follow the procedure and safely operate a gas or electric fork-lift to move, stack, load and unload material within the facility.
- Serves as Team Leader to fork-lift operators.
- Keep and retain shipping and receiving records and documents as required.
- Exemplify leadership abilities that encompass minimum supervision authorities.
- Perform routine cycle counts of parts and or components.
- Monitor, reinforce and audit FIFO.
- Train Forklift Operators
- Administrative duties as required.
- Good communication skills
- Produce system shipper or manual shipper for all outbound freight.
- Transmit ASN (Advanced Shipping Notice) systematically.
- Contact customers, suppliers and carriers as required and maintain professional relationships.
- Develop forms as required for follow-up purposes.
- Stage. Load or transport material and containers as needed.
- File / record keeping.
- Receive inbound material via TRANS4M, PLEX and CMMSIII (as required).
- Report shortages of components and finished goods.
- Review plant layout to ensure all containers and materials are placed in proper location.
- Facilitate and lead 5-S activities.
- Monitor and update truck board.
- Monitor and respond to Plex monitor.
Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience as a Shiping & Receiving Clerk/ Materials Technician or a related role
- High School diploma or GED is required
- Two (2) years of experience with basic computer skills
- A minimum of one year of experience reading freight bills, and bill of ladings.
- One year of experience communicating effectively with others in a work environment
- One year of experience working with basic math skills in a work environment (ability to perform inventory cycle counts as needed)
- One year of current experience as a Hi-Lo Driver
- Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- The specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Preferred Skills/qualifications:
- One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred
- One year of experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Shift: 6am to 2:30pm / Training Hours: 8am to 4:30am
Pay Rate: $20.50
